I have searched around for info on this in the forums and Google but have come up empty-handed. Of course I _can_ see that "comment" field in EXIFtool and PhotoME (see below), among others, but I haven't been able to figure out how to gain access to it in LR. In other words I really need to see that "comment" field. exiftool -Comment'This is a new comment' dst.jpg Write new comment to a JPG image (replaces any existing comment). Since I'm new to the project (and a consultant to boot) I'd like to be able to work within the procedures they've established, as opposed to asking them to do things differently on my account. ExifTool supports many different types of metadata including EXIF, GPS, IPTC, XMP, JFIF, GeoTIFF, ICC Profile, Photoshop IRB, FlashPix, AFCP and ID3, as well as the maker notes of many digital cameras by Canon, Casio, FujiFilm, HP. Hi Josh, I'm teaching an R workshop next week and some of my code uses exiftoolr to teach folks how to extract and view photo metadata. To manipulate the exif data we need to execute the following command: exiftool -Make HackingArticles .You can also write your own logic and specify different conditions across entire libraries of images without having to use any kind of shell scripting. Also, other tags like the GPS, the MakerNotes, this information can be edited. Exiftool seems to be installed correctly and the system can find it. There are many features of LR that make this attractive, not the least of which is Collections, Filters, and Keywording. Exiftool does more than just read tags though. R can find the files in the directory, hence all those file names are returned. See this exiftool forum post for more info. But note that there might be other data required. I use Lightroom to organize a lot of digital artwork, thousands of images. Assuming you want to embed a depth map image into the XMP-GDepth:DepthImage tag, the basic command would be: exiftool '-xmp-gdepth:DepthImage
